Pharmacy assistant is one of the promising professions of healthcare industry. You can enter this profession by getting training at a pharmacy assistant course. Besides training, you will also needs some personal skills to become successful.

Communication – For this profession, good communication skills are necessary. At the retail or other pharmacies, you will interact with customers, patients etc. It will be your responsibility to give information and instructions about medication. If you are unable to properly interact with them, it will difficult for you to be good at work. You need to understand what people want and communicate with them to understand their request. Good communication skills can help you a lot while being on this position.
Organization – Organization skills are also need in this profession. It will be your responsibility to organize things around pharmacy. You will need to organize records, bookkeeping etc. You will keep the records of medicines, patients, stocks etc. You will organize all the medicines into places and prepare them for sale.
Mathematical – As an assistant, it will become your responsibility to accept payment from customers. You will perform calculation to get the necessary amount and return the extra money. That is why; this job will require mathematical skills.
Ability to understand instructions – Understanding instructions for medication is another necessary ability that you will need. If you cannot understand instructions and guidance, it will be very difficult for you to provide right medication to customers.
Attention to detail – Paying attention to details is also necessary in this profession. At many times, you will mix medication, weight or measure them. There is no space for mistake in these procedures. That is why you need to pay attention to little details.
Computer – This job also requires skills in computers. You will keep records of patients, stocks, accounts, etc., on computer. If you are not familiar with the concept of softwares and computer, then you must get proper training for it. Knowledge of softwares will help you a lot in this profession.

The job responsibility of a pharmacy technician has become huge. One decision made by them directly affects a patient. The pharmacy technician prescribes medication, making efforts to count number of tablets, labeling bottles and preparation of a dosage.
