Quality of training determines what you do in your medical career

There is so much of responsibility on the shoulders of medical staff; they are the ones taking care of the patients with utmost dedication, helping doctors, and much more. Any discrepancy in the service would lead to hazardous effect on patients. Therefore, medical staff needs proper training and they need to be aware of each and every thing before operating on human lives.

Take the case of a phlebotomy technician, in this, a technician has to deal with blood sampling, and testing. The blood may be used for donation purposes, for research purposes, or for any other purpose. The technician needs to be well trained in an institute, which takes care of the responsibility of imparting knowledge to its students. There are institutes, which provide phlebotomy training and after completion of the training, they handover a Diploma; which is a proof that they hands-on experience in phlebotomy. 
The institute needs to give practical knowledge to its students and mandatory duties need to be performed by the trainers –


  1. Verification – The verification of a patient needs to be done by a trainer with utmost care as it can help in revealing the past record of ailments suffered by a patient. This is kind of a screen test, where a decision is made to go with the process of drawing blood or not.
  2. Assembly of The Equipment’s –Drawing blood from the Human Body is a task; therefore, technician needs to pay special attention to the equipment’s to be used. There are number of equipment’s like needles, gauge, and blood collection devices etc., which are used in the process.
  3. Conversation with a patient- Conversing with a patient, when in action is an art. It is a tool, which can allow diverting the mind of a patient and letting the process at ease. This is the part of curriculum of phlebotomy training in institutes. This helps in making the patient feel comfortable and easing the pain of a patient.
  4. Collecting and preserving Blood –After drawing blood, the safe storage is also a priority. To make sure, things are in place, the blood collected in the collection devices needs to be preserved in a cool place for future usage.
  5. Puncture points – There are points in human body from where blood needs to be drawn. These points need to be press with a needle with as much care as it can be.
